Marblehead Lighthouse

Marblehead Lighthouse

We have had two really good days! We are heading back to Tiffin, but before doing that we decided to take a side trip to Marblehead Lighthouse in Marblehead, Ohio. Mom and I had been here before about 9 years ago with Suzanne and Jennifer. Its such a beautiful day and the lake is pounding the rocks. The lighthouse is beautiful as well and Sarah is really enjoying it. Boys are sleeping in the car and Mom and Sarah are now looking around the lighthouse (the outside of it). Sarah saw some people fishing on the rocks and wanted to watch them fish. Although this little Ohio vacation has been a short one, we've packed it full!

Little Campers

Here they are attempting to put up the tent last night! They worked hard and actually did a pretty good job!

There he goes! If we had let him, he would have gone face first into the water! Justin just loved the lake!

Evening at Lake Erie at East Harbor State Park. Guess who loved the water! Justin was soaking wet by the end of our short night at the lake.

Beautiful Lake Erie! So excited to be here! Sorry the stay isn't longer. Just can't handle much more than day of camping with the crew. So excited we did camp! Makes me want to try it again soon (maybe next summer!)

No! There are no sharks in the lake! The water is not salty either! Very different from the oceans, Jackson! And there are NO crabs!

Mom and I took turns sitting with Justin in the truck. The lack of sleep finally caught up with him. Thankfull he is getting a good nap!

Here's a picture of the kids digging in the sand on the beach at Lake Erie. We are here until about 1:00 today, then we are heading to the Great Wolf Lodge, an indoor water park in Sandusky, Ohio. They spent the night in a tent last night and did fairly well. Jackson was the first to fall asleep, then Sarah. Justin was up a long time. They are having fun!

Here is Sarah at the Historical Lyme Village. We started out short Ohio vacation here. Actually we started by meeting Barb at Jolly's rootbeer stand in Tiffin. Then we headed over to visit Grandma. But on the way, we were all pleasantly surprised to see Tony walking home from church. We flagged him down and managed a quick visit. After that we went and visited Grandma. The kids were a bit apprehensive at first, as they usually are, but after a few tears (Justin) they were more comfortable! Justin began by showing Grandma his Crocs and giving her high-fives. Jackson tried to have a conversation from across the room, and Sarah was of course her shy self. I think Grandma was highly entertained. We told her we'd be back on Tuesday or Wednesday to visit with her for a longer time. After our quick visit, we headed to the farm and dropped a few things off at the house including most of the drinks we brought! Goofy us! It was sheer miscommunication. Mom thought I was keeping most and I thought she was keeping most of hers. Oh well, we will find a Kroger tomorrow and pick up some drinks for tomorrow and Tuesday.

Then, we were headed to Historic Lyme Village. This is a collection of historical buildings from the Ohio Firelands. I didn't listen well enough, as I was chasing Justin, to know exactly what they were all from, but it was somewhat like a Conner Prairie, but not nearly as interactive.

There were several buildings, including a school house, church, hardware store, general store, and two homes, one of which was part of the Underground Railroad.

Now we are cozied up in our tents at East Harbor State Park in Ohio off of Lake Erie. I had better stop writing. I have one asleep and Justin is acting a bit restless, so I think shutting the phone off for the evening is a must. Mom and I have enjoyed our first camping trip with the kids! Tomorrow, we aren't roughing it though! It's off to the Great Wolf Lodge!
