Justin and I enjoying a morning walk on our last day in Duck. We found the beautiful park. It is lots of boardwalk and much of it is on the water of the Currituck Sound. We had headed out because Justin had gotten up at 7:30! Our first stop was Duck Donuts for a donut and coffee. It was a fun little stop and yummy too! Then we headed to the park and were so surprised with what a neat park we found. We saw people crabbing and they showed us the blue crab and other crabs they had caught. The weather was so pleasant, it made the walk a lot of fun! Out weather this week has been phenomenal! Gorgeous and not too hot, except at the very beginning of the week. Thankfully, so far, our drive home has been better than our drive out. We had soooo much rain on the way out. So far (in the first hour) it's clear. Sarah and Jackson are asleep and hopefully Justin isn't too far behind.

Last day at Outer Banks. We have had a wonderful vacation! Today we started out by taking pictures in the morning and then I took Sarah and Jackson down to the beach, while Jon packed up and Justin slept. After beach, we did dinner with Jenny at the Sunset Grill. We ate inside but had a beautiful view of the Currituck Sound. We then did a bit more shopping and headed home to play in the pool for the last time. Jenny joined in the pool time. Now we are off. We left the house about 8:50 and are hoping to be home by noonish tomorrow if we drive straight through. Great vacation in Duck!!!!!

Heading to Corolla, NC
We are leaving the beach house and heading to Corolla to see if we can see some wild horses. Jon went yesterday and he was able to see them walking on the beach and he took pictures of them. We are having a really good time in the Outer Banks. We spent the first day at our pool and then ventured out to the beach. The water was warm and the kids really enjoyed playing in it. It is very different from Sunset Beach. The beach is much shorter and does not go out as far during low tide. Nor does it come up as high at high tide. The beach is also very gritty, not the smooth sand of the beach we are used to. The kids all got very wet. Sarah and Jackson also were able to fly the kites they got for Easter. So far lots of things to do and lots of fun!

Williamsburg, VA
We spent the day in Colonial Williamsburg. There are a lot of wonderful old buildings and fun reenactments. The kids enjoyed playing the hoop and stick game in front of the Governor's Palace. There is a LOT of history and a lot of shopping and fun places to eat. We got to see someone making shoes, a place where they make buckets (cooper), and a cool cabinet maker shop. The kids enjoyed asking questions about the different things that were made! Jackson's favorite place was the jail. We even got a picture of Justin in the jail looking through the windows of the jail. It was a very hot day but fun. Justin napped through part of the day and Jon, Jackson, and Justin headed back early to the truck where Jackson also fell asleep.
Last night we ate at a local restaurant in Williamsburg then we came back to the hotel and swam for a bit in the indoor and outdoor pool. Devon, Dan, Dad, Sharon, and all the kids arrived about 9:30 and Jenny, shortly after then we hung in the hallway for a bit and then headed to bed.
Now, we are stuck in traffic on our way to Norfolk for dinner. We are staying at a Holiday Inn in Norfolk tonight. Jenny has reservations for us at a pizza place and then we are heading to a frozen yogurt place for dessert. Should be fun! Tomorrow we will do some touristy things in Norfolk and then its off to Duck and the OBX of NC!

This trip is taking the place of the many years we spent in Sunset Beach, North Carolina. Another adventure! Looking forward to seeing new places and learning new things. Kids are all awake right now, but I'm hoping as we go on down the road, they will slowly drift back to sleep! Our first stop is Williamsburg, VA!
